Out Here

Where the word is shouted from the tin rooftops.

DIY Choke Bracket for CV Carburetor

I heard this blog has a great section for do it yourself. Or I could be thinking of some other one.
I got tired of having my choke hanging out all stupid, and I'd see some nice brackets a couple companies were making, but I'm not shelling out money for something so simple.

Took a piece of 16 gauge steel, traced out the radius for the top of my carb. Cut it out, coped it out with what else but the angle grinder. Drilled a couple holes. Viola! And it didn't take that long either.

Sportster For Sale. On the cheap.

Are you the last one of your buddies that still doesn't have a motorbike? You quite skateboarding, bmx'ing, golfing, or you just ready to piss off the wife and get your knees in the breeze?
I feel you. That's why I've got your bike.

Background: I picked this bike up recently from a friend who was going to use it as a donor bike for a chopper build, but decided against it. Nothing was "wrong" with it, but it had been customized in the early 2000s with a bunch of junk looked like a pile of crap. So I bought it, cleaned it up, went through everything replacing a bunch of parts and got it legit for its new owner.

1991 Harley Davidson 883 Sportster
5 speed, chain drive
Mildly customized
Brand New early 70s 2.2 gallon sporty tank
Brand New early 70s sporty rear fender modified (both painted gloss grey)
Newly rebuilt chrome rear caliper, brand new factory brake line
New Battery

Black mag HD mag wheels, 19" front, 16" rear
LePera low profile 2 up seat
Stock style HD riser with chrome 6" dog bones and super skinny drag bar
Right now I'm not running front brakes, but I do have 2 different front MCs and calipers. Bars can be switched. These are too narrow to run the M/C on the handlebars
New fluids throughout, tuned up, 2" drag pipes, runs great

Solid bike for the money and looks decent. Price is $3kOBO. Call or text Seven57-672-790TWO or email jeff@salvationdesignva.com for info, or more photos. I think some of these pics are sideways, and that's dumb, I can send them properly.

Oh, bike is in Portsmouth, VA. Out.

First Solid Moto Jaunt in a Minute

Low Budget Rehab Sessions

I've been looking for another cheap project bike to mess around with for awhile now and finally came across a little something I couldn't pass up. I picked up this 91 883 Sporty this weekend. Titled and looks solid, but of course, not running. No battery, couple extra carbs in questionable shape, brakes are fucked. Some half assed customizing had been done to it and it was coated in a quarter inch of oxidation and funk. Figured I'd give it some love in the next month and get it running and rideable and pass it on. It's a good candidate for some kid's first bike or to chop. It crossed my mind, but I don't have time for the funds to put that much time into it.
As I found it.

Don't know what the plans were for this shit.

Time Machine Throwback Thursday

Friend of my wife's posted this on facespace the other day. She showed it to me and asked if it was a cool bike...This pan belonged to this kid's neighbor back in the 80s, I guess. When this pic was taken. I'm guessing this thing could be seen blasting around the backroads of Southampton County at one point in time. I'd be real stoked to find out where it ended up.

Sand Casting: Gomer Stylings

Will's been doing some experimentation as of late, messing around with sand casting. He's made a few aluminum points covers so far that have turned out pretty killer. I think he's got some ideas for some pegs spinning around in his dome piece as well. No plans for truck nuts as of yet.

Merry Christmas Holiday

The Geek Moto Christmas party, formerly known as the Gomer Chinese People Party went off without a hitch. We all had a great time. A great time. Food, Folks and Fun. Nobody brought any Snuggies or personal lubricants to the gift swap. Internally some of decided we'd all make arts and crafts. That worked out well for all parties involved. Loco and the Ghost were missed though, but Nick was moving into his new casa and Marc, I think was studying abroad over the Christmas holiday. Here's some of the arts and crafts.

Barter System

Slowly but surely the Brown Hornet is making some progress. I picked up some side pipes from my buddy Steve awhile back. He had some down time and offered to fab up the rest of the exhaust for me. I built him a pretty cool coffee table for his casa and in turn, he busted out the exhaust for me. Built me a Y pipe so I can run duals and did all the mounts, brackets, etc and helped me sort out all the other particulars. I'm not an auto person, so he got me sorted. Pipes came out perfect. One more thing done, but still a ways to go.

The first two runs of these shirts are gone. I'm placing one more order later on this week.

Also, the plan is to do some zip up hoodies real soon. Also American made. I'll be posting up the info on those as soon as I have them priced out.

More work trip flicks

These are from the local harley dealer in Manitowoc Wi. They had these scoots hanging by straps from a track that was in the ceiling and it rotated around the shop nonstop. It had about 20 bikes on it and these were the coolest ones. The black and white flatty was super sweet! I'm super stoked on all the old iron I got to see on these trips. Killer diller bra!
